Overview

Updated On: October 10, 2026 | AB Published by: Amit B | 5 min read
The Axis Bank Atlas Credit Card is one of India’s most popular premium travel credit cards, offering attractive reward rates and the flexibility to transfer EDGE Miles to airline miles and hotel loyalty points. With a base reward rate of 4% and the potential to exceed 5.6% in value, it is an excellent option for frequent travellers looking to convert everyday spending into flights and hotel stays. However, multiple devaluations, including reduced transfer ratios for Accor ALL and Qatar Airways Privilege Club (Avios) and lower annual transfer limits for partners like Air India, have reduced its overall appeal. Nevertheless, the Axis Atlas remains a strong choice if you have not exhausted the annual transfer limits for useful Group A partners, continuing to offer one of the best base reward rates across spending categories, provided future devaluations do not further erode its value.Note: Axis Bank is not issuing Atlas Credit Card now. Only existing users of Atlas Credit Card can use it.

Pros

  • Very high reward rate in the form of airmiles and hotel points. No other card provides such high reward rate across the spend categories specially offline spend.
  • Spend done on airlines and hotels' own websites; and offline payment at hotels and airlines owned outlets give 10% airmiles or hotel points. This is very high reward rates on such spend.
  • Free Airport Lounges available with this card can also be used for accompanying guests (friends or relatives).
  • Attractive milestone benefits which enhances the reward rate further.
  • Spend on Education is considered for both regular reward points and milestone points. Most of the credit cards nowadays do not give any points on education spend down through third party apps.

Cons

  • Axis Bank has grouped the airmiles and hotel points partners into Group A and Group B. After recent devaluation, mostly useful airmiles/hotel partners are in Group A which has just 30,000 annual Edgemiles transfer limit. This is relatively low for a premium cardholders.
  • On two occasions, Axis Bank has reduced transfer ratios or removed valuable airline and hotel loyalty partners without prior notice. The value of an air-miles credit card depends heavily on favourable transfer ratios and access to useful airline and hotel loyalty programmes. Any sudden change can significantly devalue accumulated EDGE Miles overnight, making the Axis Bank Atlas Credit Card an unpredictable choice for long-term travel rewards planning.
  • Renewal fee cannot be waived-off irrespective of the spend done in previous year
  • High reward rate is only possible if the Edgemiles (reward points) are converted into airmiles or hotel points
  • It does not give real cashback. So, its only useful for travellers.
  • Card is not good if spend is less than Rs.3 Lacs in a year as the annual fee may not be recovered.

Detailed Review

The Axis Bank Atlas Credit Card stands out among India’s premium travel credit cards for its strong reward-earning potential and the flexibility to transfer EDGE Miles to airline and hotel loyalty programmes. With a base reward rate of 4% that can deliver over 5.6% in value, it can be a rewarding option for frequent travellers who want to turn everyday spending into flights and hotel stays. However, successive devaluations, including lower transfer ratios for Accor ALL and Qatar Airways Privilege Club (Avios) and reduced annual transfer limits for partners such as Air India, have weakened its value proposition. Despite these changes, the Axis Atlas can still deliver excellent returns if you have unused transfer limits for valuable Group A partners. Its attractiveness ultimately depends on your preferred redemption partners and whether future devaluations further reduce the value of your EDGE Miles.
